I APPRECIATE THE FACT THAT YOU HAVE BOOKS AND POETRY WRITTEN BY PEOPLE WHO ARE ACTUALLY INVOLVED WITH THE WEST, NOT SOME WRITER WHO WRITES ACTION NOVELS ONE DAY AND A "REAL WEST" BOOK THE NEXT DAY. I REALIZE OHIO IS NOT A WESTERN STATE, BUT ENJOYING THE WEST TO ME IS MORE A STATE OF MIND

I have long been a fan of the old West and am the proud owner of a western saddle plus other western gear. I also have a great collection of John Wayne western videos plus Tom Selleck's latest offering, including the Monte Walsh remake. Can't wait to see Open Range which has not been shown over here yet. I have just submitted my application to receive the magazine [weekly email newsletter] and can't wait to get it on a regular basis .

I am a direct descendant from the Younger family. My grandmother is Nita Younger. I like to read the history of the family and listen to them later dispute the realities of what happened. This particular article was very enjoyable to read. The reality of history vs movies is what most people need to understand.

I'm a sorry excuse for a bareback rider. A broke down, busted up, tired old road-running I never was, but had a hell of a time rodeo'n. I've since had to resort to the worst fate know to a cowboy (a real job) I wrangle for Uncle Sam now. Instead of pushing livestock to market I push bottled water and MRE's to the front lines. But I still love a good cup of coffee as I watch the sun come up over the desert and some good ole cowboy poetry. Baxter Black is my favorite part. A cowboy mag without BB is like chili without the beans. You can swallow it but it just doesn't taste as good. Thank you for your publication it means a lot to the ones of us stuck overseas who cannot be around the friends family and rodeos we love.

The best part of the Western Magazine is the whole thing. I am a regular visitor and love to spend time going through all the articles. I was brought up on western stories which my father red to me as bedtime stories and it is very much a part of me now. My only regret is that I am not an American to be able to be part of the West.

I enjoyed reading about James Arness [interview]. I remember listening to the radio show. It was so real to me I got scared about what was going to happen. I was 4 or 5 years old and everything had quite impression I also watched every episode on television. As a family we would sit around the living room and watch it together.I was sad when it went off the air. People today really don't what they have missed.

What a lovely surprise : an email [opt-in newsletter subscription ] directing me to the American Western Magazine. The American West has been my favourite subject since I was a young 'un. I like that there are so many interesting stories of the old outlaws. The Dalton Gang is my favorite because I was told that my family is related to them. Thank You

I have only read a few of the passages [horse column] and already learned how to continue the training for my "FireCracker", a 2 1/2 month old colt. He was born on the Fourth of July this year and seems to have alot of problems with his human master. I haven't been able to go any further due to his disposition so I guess it's time to try a formal training session. Thanks for the tips.

R.L. Brinegar's poetry!! His words remind me of my Grandad! Words of wisdom, tempered with a twist of humor! A lesson in life with every poem! He makes you think and laugh at the same time.
