Hi! I love western movies and western lifestyle. It is important for the future that you make westerns with the oldfashion style! I want my children to see what America's about, not any Spidermen or cruel killing thrillers, they oughta see some real good westerns!! Please make films about Civil War or Old West, but please forget all the new tricks you can make with your equipment, it must be an authentic movie, not a new trash!! There happened so many powerful things in the 1860's so please let us live them again, through the movie! Everyone should know what happened in The United States' history!! My children haven't born yet, but when I'm going to have children I shall tell them about America. It's a great country.

I, personally believe western movies should certainly be current in today society. Bring them back on TV and in the movies. My brother and I looked forward to getting to the movies on Saturday just to see the "Old Westerns" as most people want to call them today. It was good, clean, entertainment, and the parents could honestly send their children to the movies alone and knew they would not be watching some uncensored sex movie with all the filthy vulgarity like most movies of today. What happen to the good, clean, family westerns that everyone could not wait to see on TV and spend quality time together. Clean up the Screens and put the Westerns back on.

It seems only one good western comes out every year, and that's on cable (Crossfire Trail- The Jack Bull- Johnson County War). It is a shame no more, well good ones, appear on the big screen; the last one being Tombstone back in '94. Bring 'em back!

Bring back more about the west, historical or modern it is all interesting. A way of life that is hard and clean. So many different aspects that can be made into a movie. Just look at all the good books that could be adapted to movies that haven't. Good work ethics, morals from a different era and a binding deal was still made on a handshake. Some parts of the country are still this way, but a rarity when found. From the Duke's best to Eight Seconds to The Sackett's, such a wide pallet yet so much in common. Let us see more of our true heritage on the big screen.

Westerns are America. Morals and values are put in stark contrast to mediocrity and lawlessness that msut be overcome. At the same time the Western genre captures the spirit of independence and recklessness that resulted in the unique character of America. To ignore this genre is to turn our back on ourselves. I LOVE WESTERNS, HORSES, RANCHING, RODEOS, & COWBOYS!!! John Wayne, Sam Elliott, Tom Selleck, & Roy Rogers (especially Roy Rogers) are my HEROES!!! I MISS the good ol' fashioned western, whether on the big screen or on Television, especially the ones that are historically correct in clothing and gear. I know alot of actors don't like to get "type-cast" as a "western" actor, etc. But, these guys are SO good at it!! Alot of people think it reflects the simpler and easier way of life, but the truth is there was nothing about the "Great Old West" that was easy....You had to work long and very hard just to make it day to day, month to month, and year to year....Actually, Ranching and Farming hasn't changed that much, it's just that the equipment and mode of transportation has modernized, You still have to work long and hard to make it...and pray Mother Nature co-operates. I grew up in the Mid-west on a farm and know what I'm talking about and I now live in New Mexico and alot of my friends are ranchers and I see the struggles. The WESTERN is a part of America and OUR culture....It is something that is TOTALLY American and no other country can truly duplicate that.....Let's not let it slip away.

Western culture. Ahhhh! A simple life (or so we are lead to believe) where men respected women above all else. If a person should immerse him (or her) self in a culture let it be in Westerns. Sure, there is violence. Violence is everywhere (Don't belive me? Think back to all of the Popeye cartoons. How many times did Popeye and Brutus mix it up?), but at least in the Western genre of movies and books a man's character is usually defined by his actions and not by the greed and avarice of this generation of films and film makers.

I think that there should be ALOT more westerns on TV because they are far, few and in between. Westerns are the most exiciting genre there is. And seeing as there is lack of them should be illegal. We need more QUALITY, westerns based upon the massive quantity of real stories available from the first person histories such as will be found in (especially) the small, old communities throughout the west (to the west of the 100th meridian). They could be humorous, which we need more of, uplifting, which we most certainly need more of in movies, based on real people and demonstrating success through personal perseverance. I have read many such, and am descended from people who lived those stories. I have neither read nor heard at my grandparents feet, many stories of the strong,wealthy westerner abusing the weaker such as is frequently the scenario portrayed. That needs to be demonstrated to right the injustice of such portrayal in the past. Such stories as in the journals and local history books in the west could be exciting and even morally clean as most people then were moral people striving to build good communities in which to raise their families. Watching the old westerns on TV is what gets my real cowboy and ranch owner husband through the ordeal of monthly bookkeeping and the annual marathon of tax preparation. Some new ones would be greatly appreciated.

We love the west, as our ancestry, our roots, and our personalities are all geared to the old time traditions, where good overcomes evil, and you can smell the smoke of the campfires, etc. A good western takes us all to a place where we can be heroes and or the hero's girl. A good western depicts our land and countryside as it was in the early days, where the struggle for law and order and putting food on the table were top priority. Well, seeing as how Space Cowboys wasn't REALLY a western...we're hankering for a real shoot-em-up movie with real horses, some rodeo action, maybe even some Native American rodeo action. Shoot it up on the Navajo Rez...where much of the country is still in it's natural form. Something with clean language, morals, principles, and apple pie. Maybe another funny one like City Slickers, although I preferred young Guns I & II myself!

There is a severe shortage of good westerns being put out by Hollywood. Personally, I would pay money to see a good western rather than the horror(ible) flicks being produced. It's truly a shame that most of the really good westerns are "made for TV" movies only. It's bad enough that ranching and agricultural life are becoming extinct occupations, don't compound this loss with ignoring the existence of this way of life by not making quality westerns. I realize that Sam Elliott, Katherine Ross, and Tom Selleck to name a few don't want to be typecast in only westerns. However, they personify these characters in a very heroic way. Please,don't let our heritage disappear in mindless teen movies or horror flicks.

I go to maybe 1 or 2 movies a year, because what is out there is mostly trash. I would go to a western with any kind of a plot that features a hero, his or her nemesis, a problem and a solution. I'd particularly enjoy a western musical. The music from the old westerns, whether warbled by the hero or as background music was fun to listen to. Let's have more westerns, please

I have a fascination with the old west, after all thats how this country was founded. I am so tired of movies with cussing, blood & guts showing & too much sex in the movies. My son who is 7 & I love to watch old John Wayne westerns. Sure people get killed, but you don't see anything, that's what makes them more of a family thing. I have always loved to watching Bonanza, Rifleman, Wagon Train etc. Lets see some more Westerns before some of the last Western actors are gone.

Western movies portray the times that formed most of this country....and if they are done right, can teach children (and grownups!) about true courage,hard work, determination, strength, honor, and respect. We need more of that!! BUT-- not just heavy violence and evil in a western setting!!!

Need more authentic movies like Tombstone with consultants who know how clothes, guns, props, really were. Maybe Hollywood could consult someone in the know and tell things as close to as they really were for a change. We need more westerns and less movies by guys like Sylvester Stallone.

I have always watched Westerns and this started in the fourties. We need westerns that are period correct, type of guns, tack clothes and etc.There are other great lawman and otlaws besidies Wyatt Earp and Billy the Kid. I notice a lot of video stores do not carry westerns and I tell them about it. Most recent was the Johnson County War. Hollywood make more Westerns.

I grew up watching westerns, and didn't like Dale when she married Roy,he was my hero. I never got over the love of the western way, in fact I write stories now about it , the latest is the story of my great grandfather who was shot in a gun fight in Cow Springs New Mexico in 1886. Lets keep the west alive.

I enjoy a good John Wayne movie ( Western ) all the time I also enjoy Clint Eastwood , Sam Elliott etc.  I do think if they would show more westerns it would bring our kids and thier kids closer together. Without all this other gang and massive violence that they show on tv.

I grew up watching westerns on TV with my dad. We watched every one there was. The good guy was always fighting for what was right, the bad guy was just rotten to the core. And you always knew which was which. The good guy wore the white hat! I would like my grandchildren to learn these lessons the way I did, but there are no more TV westerns. But the movies, that's a whole different matter. They could watch the videos over and over again, and learn what's right from what's wrong, without even realizing that was what they were doing. Please, for the children of America (of all ages), make more western films.

Westerns are clean, wholesome entertainment that depects good triumphing over evil. There isn't the senseless violence that todays youth is hooked on. It also shows the Western United States, a beautiful and unusual landscape (when really filmed in the US) to many that will never get to come themselves. Westerns give everyone a feeling of pride in themselves since most can identify with the "everyman" that is most times the hero of the story. When done well, the Western can be as riviting as any other genre.
