Uh-oh, we're beginning to see a disturbing pattern develop in LaLa Landyou know, land of "creative" minds. Officially classified as a "thriller," this film appears to be yet another entry into the sultry lady-outlaw/martial arts westerns so in vogue in Hollywood these days. [See also JESSIE'S GIRL]
But to be fair, according to the film's official website GHOST ROCK is "an ambitious reinvention of the Western."
Ambitious? You bet!
Reinvention? You decide....
PLOT:
(Source: Press Release)
"An epic tale of loyalty, retribution, and honor that masterfully combines the blazing gunfights of the classic Western with acrobatic martial arts action.
A band of merciless outlaws led by the by the ruthless "BLACK" JACK PICKETT (Oscar® Nominee Gary Busey - Lethal Weapon, Point Break, Under Siege) blazes a trail of murder and destruction among the frontier towns of Arizona.
In his attempt to bring justice to the lawless West, U.S. Ranger MOSES LOGAN (Jeff Fahey - The Lawnmower Man, Wyatt Earp) relentlessly pursues Pickett to Ghost Rock, Arizona.
The peaceful town of Ghost Rock has been taken over by Pickett and his gang. Out-manned and out-gunned, Logan unites with a fearless bounty hunter, JOHN SLAUGHTER (Michael Worth - Final Impact, Fists of Iron, US Seals 2), who is determined to avenge his father's death a decade ago at the hands of Pickett. With the aid of a sexy and mysterious female gunfighter (Jenya Lano - Blade), a sultry brothel madam (Adrienne Barbeau - Canonball Run, Escape From New York), and a wise Chinese migrant worker (James Hong - The Golden Child, Big Trouble in Little China), Moses and Slaughter unleash total war against Pickett on the streets of Ghost Rock."
And now for the hype:

"With a mix of fierce gun-slinging action and martial arts combat, "GHOST ROCK" is a Western like you've never seen before. Hang onto your hats. The old west just developed a new attitude!"
