Linda Wommack is a Colorado native who has enjoyed Colorado History since childhood. She is a distant relative of Bob Womack, the man who discovered gold at Cripple Creek. Linda has published several books dealing with the history of the state, including Colorado Gambling: A History of the Early Days, Cripple Creek Tailings and Colorado History for Kids. The latter book was recommended by the National Teachers Association, two years in a row, as the history book of choice for the state of Colorado.

Linda's articles have appeared in The Casino Player, The Tombstone Epitaph, The American Epitaph, True West Magazine, The Gold Prospector, American Western Magazine - ReadTheWest.com, The Colorado Gambler, and Solitude in Stone. She also has written a monthly history column for the Rocky Mountain News.

Linda is a member of the National Mining Association, Colorado Historical Society, National Historic Preservation Committee, Colorado Independent Publishers Association, Western Writers of America, Colorado Cemetery Association, National Association for Cemetery Preservation and the Colorado Genealogical Society.

This book was written in 1991 and tells the story of Cripple Creek, Colorado and it's people. Bob Womack was first to discover gold in this last of the great gold camps, yet died penniless. A statue of Bob has been erected in Cripple Creek in his memory and a copy of this book has been put in a "time
capsule" in it's base.
